Our Purpose
It is our goal at FUMC's Nursery School and Kindergarten to provide a nurturing, Christian environment in which children may develop intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Head Teachers hold degrees in education. Assistant teachers are trained or have experience on early childhood education and hold associates or bachelors degrees. All teachers are CPR certified and Safe Sanctuaries trained. We offer Chapel, led by our Associate Pastor, Jeff Calhoun, and Specials classes ranging from music, yoga, cooking and movement, one day a week.

Kindergarten Monday- Friday 8;00-Noon
class size limited to 16 children with two teachers
Four year old Nursery School Tuesday- Thursday 8:30-11:50
Class size limited to 16 students with two teachers
Three Year old Nursery School Tuesday - Thursday 8:30-11:30
Class size limited to 15 students with two teachers
Kindergarten Class
-Individual and small group instruction
-Abeka Reading and Language Curriculum which features a phonetic approach
-Abeka Mathematics curriculum and math journals which feature a hands-on, experiential approach
-Daily Calendar Time incorporating math, money and language skills
-God's Caring Sharing Friend year long emphasis on each child's uniqueness, showing how each child is a "special child of God"
-God's Children Around the World Program
Four Year Old Class
-Daily Group Time including Calendar time and weekly show and tell
-Whole Language approach including Literature and narrative art activities with introduction to upper and lower case alphabet
-Thematic Unites relating to Community Helpers around the alphabet, seasonal and religious holidays
-Special Days including each child's "God Made Me Special" bulletin board
-Community Helpers Program
Three Year Old Class
-Developing group socialization skills
-Learning colors, shapes and recognition of numbers and alphabet
-Large and fine motor development
-Daily group time including reading, singing, poetry and weekly show and tell
-Painting, play dough, puzzles and scissor play
-Periodic in-class cooking
-Special Day and story for each child highlighting how each child is special
-Nursery Rhymes unit culminating in a visit from Mother Goose
